How to Reach Kempegowda Airport by BMTC Volvo

Kempegowda International Airport (KIA/BIAL) sits well outside the city, and for most travellers, BMTC’s Vayu Vajra AC Volvo service is the simplest way to get there without arranging a cab or depending on traffic-priced ride-hailing. Fares are modest compared to a cab, luggage is included at no extra charge, and buses run around the clock on the busier routes.

Find the route closest to you

There isn’t one single “airport bus” — there are 32 numbered Vayu Vajra routes, each starting from a different part of the city. Find your area below, or use the route & stop search if your locality isn’t listed by name.

East Bangalore (Whitefield, Kadugodi)

Two routes each from Whitefield and Kadugodi. The airport-bound KIA-15A also runs the return leg from the airport to Whitefield.

Central & North Bangalore (Majestic, Brigade Gateway, HAL, Hebbala)

From the city’s main bus hub at Majestic and other central/north points.

What to expect

Journey times vary a lot by starting point and time of day — expect anywhere from about 45 minutes on the closer routes to well over 2 hours from the far south/east suburbs, longer still in peak traffic. Buses run frequently on the busier corridors (some as often as every 20-30 minutes) and much less often on quieter routes, so it’s worth checking your specific route’s timings before you leave.

Luggage of any reasonable size is carried free of charge — no extra fee. Most buses accept UPI, cash, or card on board.
